Cannondale Topstone 3

The "Topstone 3" model from Cannondale from 2024 is a versatile gravel bike that is available for EUR 1499. It has a lightweight frame made from SmartForm C2 Alloy with a 12x142 mm thru-axle system and a tapered head tube. The frame is equipped with a BSA threaded bottom bracket and offers a flat disc brake mount as well as internal cable routing through the StraightShot system.

The braking system consists of mechanical disc brakes from Promax Decoder R with 160 mm rotors at the front and rear. The brake levers are from Shimano Sora, as is the entire shifting system, which consists of a Shimano Sora GS front derailleur and shift levers. The bike offers a total of 18 gears, which are made possible by a Shimano Sora 9-speed drivetrain.

The fork of the Topstone 3 is a Topstone carbon fork with a 1-1/8" to 1.5" head tube, a 55 mm OutFront offset and internal cable routing. It is also equipped with a 12x100 mm thru-axle and mounts for mudguards and pannier rack. The bottom bracket is a cartridge model with a square cone, while the crankset consists of an FSA Tempo Adventure with 46/30 chainrings. The sprocket is a Sunrace 11-34, 9-speed, and the drivetrain is completed by a KMC Z9 chain.

The cockpit of the bike consists of a Cannondale 3 handlebar made of 6061 aluminium with a 16-degree flare drop and Cannondale bar tape with a thickness of 3.5 mm. The stem is also a Cannondale 3 model made of 6061 aluminium with a diameter of 31.8 mm and an angle of 7 degrees. The integrated headset has dimensions from 1-1/8" to 1.5".

The wheels consist of GXD 1.0 rims with 28 spokes and Formula aluminium hubs (front 12x100 mm, rear 12x142 mm). The tyres are WTB Riddler Comp in size 700x37c, with Vittoria Terreno Dry tyres of the same size being used in Europe and the UK.

The saddle is a Fizik Aliante Delta with S-Alloy rails, and the seatpost is a Cannondale 4 in 6061 aluminium measuring 27.2x350 mm. The geometry of the bike includes a seat tube length of 553 mm, a top tube length of 579 mm, a head tube angle of 71 degrees, a seat tube angle of 73 degrees, a head tube length of 180 mm, a chainstay length of 435 mm, a fork rake of 55 mm, a standover height of 824 mm and a wheelbase of 1065 mm. The total weight of the bike is around 32000 g.

The Cannondale Topstone 3 therefore offers a balanced mix of comfort, stability and performance, ideal for demanding gravel tours and versatile applications.
