Cannondale Topstone 2

The "Topstone 2" model from Cannondale from 2024 offers a balanced combination of performance and comfort at a price of EUR 1999. The frame is made of lightweight SmartForm C2 aluminium and features a 12x142 mm thru-axle, a tapered head tube, a BSA threaded bottom bracket, flat-mounted disc brakes and StraightShot internal cable routing.

Braking power is provided by Shimano GRX 400 hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm RT54 rotors at the front and rear. The brake levers are also from Shimano GRX 400 and offer reliable control. The shifting system consists of a Shimano GRX 400 Shadow RD+ rear derailleur and a Shimano GRX 400 front derailleur, which together with the Shimano GRX 400 shift levers enable precise 10-speed shifting.

The fork of the Topstone 2 is made of carbon and has a 1-1/8" to 1.5" head tube, a 55 mm OutFront offset, flat-mounted disc brakes, internal cable routing and mounting options for mudguards and pannier rack. The bottom bracket is an FSA cartridge model, while the crankset consists of FSA Omega AGX+ aluminium with a 46/30-tooth combination. The cassette is a Shimano HG500 with a gradation of 11-34 teeth and the drive is provided by a KMC X10 chain.

The handlebar is a Cannondale 3 made of butted 6061 aluminium with a 16 degree flare drop, complemented by Cannondale bar tape with a thickness of 3.5 mm. The stem is also made of 6061 aluminium, has a diameter of 31.8 mm and an angle of 7 degrees. The headset is integrated and ranges from 1-1/8" to 1.5".

The wheels consist of WTB ST i23 TCS rims with 28 spokes, which are tubeless-ready. The hubs are Formula cartridge bearings with centrelock mounting, with a 12x100 mm thru axle at the front and a 12x142 mm thru axle at the rear. The tyres are WTB Riddler TCS Light in size 700 x 37c, also tubeless-ready.

The saddle is a Fizik Aliante Delta with S-Alloy rails, mounted on a Cannondale 3 seatpost made of 6061 aluminium measuring 27.2x350 mm. The total weight of the bike is 32000 g.

In terms of geometry, the Topstone 2 has a reach of 394 mm, a stack of 610 mm, a seat tube length of 553 mm and a top tube length of 579 mm. The head tube angle is 71 degrees and the seat tube angle is 73 degrees. The head tube measures 180 mm in length, the chainstay length is 435 mm and the fork pre-bend is 55 mm. The standover height is 824 mm and the wheelbase measures 1065 mm in total.

The Cannondale Topstone 2 thus offers well thought-out equipment and geometry for versatile use on different surfaces, ideal for riders who want to be on the road as well as off-road.
