After the S-Works Tarmac SL with rim brakes, Specialized now presents the disc brake version of its professional racer. However, the real speciality of the S-Works Tarmac Disc lies in its cranks. This is where Specialized presents its first self-designed power measurement system with the newly developed S-Works Power Cranks. It was developed in collaboration with the power meter manufacturer 4iiii. With an accuracy rate of plus/minus 1.6 per cent, Specialized promises the "world's most accurate power meter" and refers to tests carried out by the University of Boulder (Colorado).
Although the disc brakes have a minimal impact on the overall weight - which amounts to approx. 6.65 kg - the aerodynamics, geometry and frame stiffness should remain largely unchanged compared to the version with rim brakes.
The bikes are supplied with 26 millimetre wide Turbo Cotton tyres that roll on Roval CLX Disc 50 carbon wheels. The hydraulic Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset completes the equipment, which comes at a price: €9,999 is the official retail price.
The Specialiced S-Works Tarmac SL Disc is also being launched as a women's model with identical geometry and is on sale from today.
