The Bocholt-based bicycle company Rose Bikes has launched a special collaboration: together with the athlete and social media personality Julia Alina Schuler, they have created the Del Sol Edition of the tried-and-tested Shave FF – a road bike that channels the energy of the sunset onto the tarmac.
Julia Alina Schuler is no stranger to the world of sport and lifestyle. With her charismatic personality, she inspires thousands of female followers on Instagram and embodies an active lifestyle. Having grown up by the sea, Julia has translated the cycles of nature – such as the pulsing of the waves, the shimmer of the sand and the interplay of sunrise and sunset – into her own movement. Running, swimming and cycling. This is precisely what the design of the Shave FF special edition was intended to capture.
The multi-layered paintwork combines different textures and shades to create a visual experience reminiscent of the Mediterranean evening light. Elements of water, land and air blend together to form a unique look that not only appeals to the eye, but is also intended as a tribute to the connection between people and nature in sport.
Impressive as the design may be – beneath the artful paintwork lies a road bike. Rose has, at the Shave FF Del Sol Edition No compromises whatsoever were made on the technology.
The drivetrain is provided by the SRAM Force XPLR AXS groupset in a modern 1x13 configuration with a 10–46 cassette. The SRAM Force crankset comes with a 50-tooth chainring, with the crank arm length tailored to the rider depending on frame size: XS and S come with 165 mm, M with 170 mm, M/L 172.5 mm, and L and XL 175 mm. For the power metre, Rose has opted for the SRAM Aero Powermeter Direct Mount – an integrated power metre that enables ambitious athletes to train with precision.
Braking is provided by SRAM Paceline disc brakes in the Centre Lock standard – 160 mm in diameter at the front and 140 mm at the rear.
When it comes to wheels, Rose has opted for the Zipp 303 SW with carbon rims – a combination of ultra-lightweight construction and aerodynamics that perfectly translates the bike’s racing DNA onto the tarmac. Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR tyres, in a comfortable width of 32 millimetres, ensure grip and control in fast corners.
The cockpit is completed by Rose’s own Shave Cockpit, whilst the saddle is the SLR Superflow S3 from the renowned manufacturer Selle Italia. The Shave Seatpost with 0 mm offset, also from Rose, blends seamlessly into the frame’s aerodynamic lines.
The weight of the complete bike is impressive: 7.2 kg (size M, excluding pedals, ±5 per cent) – remarkable for a fully-equipped road bike in this class.
The Shave FF Del Sol Edition is available in six frame sizes – from XS to XL – and is therefore suitable for people between 155 and 200 cm tall.
Tyres up to 35 mm wide fit easily; anyone who prefers a bit more comfort on long rides can switch to wider tyres without any problems.
Anyone who wants to own the Shave FF Del Sol Edition will have to be quick. The run is limited to just 30 units worldwide – a genuine collector’s item for anyone who values performance and aesthetics in equal measure. Priced at 6,200 euros, the bike is Now available here, either online or at one of the Rose stores in Germany and Switzerland.
I have to say, that Rose Shave FF Del Sol Edition is one of the most beautiful road bikes I’ve come across recently. The intricate paintwork is exactly to my taste – and technically, too, I have very little to criticise. 32 mm tyres fitted as standard, clearance for up to 35 mm, and high-quality components from the tyres right through to the cockpit: it’s the perfect package. I do have one minor reservation, however: for me and my frequent hill climbs, the 50-tooth chainring combined with the 1x13 drivetrain would probably be a bit too stiff – personally, I’d opt for a smaller chainring. But that’s just nitpicking.
