Merida promises less weight, less drag and more comfort for its new Scultura Team. According to the press release, the new frame is 38 g (size M) lighter than its predecessor. The frame now weighs 822 g and the fork 389 g (size M). Thanks to the option of fitting tyres up to 30 mm wide, comfort has also been improved. The complete cable integration, a one-piece cockpit, the revised head tube and fork profile as well as the lowered mounting points of the seat stays are intended to make the bike more aerodynamic.
Even though the bike has only just been unveiled, it has already been used in races by Team Bahrain Victorious: Two stages at the Critérium du Dauphiné (Mark Padun), one stage at the Tour de France (Dylan Teuns) and one at the Vuelta a España (Damiano Caruso) were won with the bike.
The bike is equipped with the new electric 12-speed Dura-Ace groupset, power meter, disc brakes and the Metron 45SL wheelset. Merida states a retail price of 9,999 euros on its website.
