With this subtle model update, BMC has modelled the entry-level platform on the high-end versions of the Teammachine SLR. According to the manufacturer, the beginner-friendly competition bike should benefit aerodynamically thanks to the integration of the cables and hoses. The 4.5 version adopts the so-called ICS technology (Integrated Cockpit System) from well-known models, the brake lines and shift cables are routed into the head tube under the stem. As a result, BMC promises a relatively simple adjustment of the riding position.
The Teammachine SLR is the basic platform in the Swiss race category. In contrast to the more expensive versions (SLR 01 and SLR Mpc.), the racer is based on a heavier frameset. BMC quotes a weight of 1585 grams for the chassis, while the lighter models save between 200 and 400 grams. Overall, the lightest version of the new Teammachine SLR should weigh in at 8.0 kilograms.
The new product can be retrofitted with all BMC one-piece cockpits thanks to the integration of ICS technology. Two-piece aluminium handlebar/stem combos are fitted to each of the three equipment variants. The Swiss company offers three different seat posts. The standard version has an offset of 15 millimetres, while posts with an offset of 0 and 25 millimetres are optionally available. The maximum tyre clearance is 30 millimetres.
The new Teammachine SLR is offered in three equipment variants between 2999 and 4999 euros. The top and mid-range models are equipped with electronic drivetrains (Ultegra Di2, 105 Di2), while the basic platform comes with mechanical gears (105). All variants are fitted with simple aluminium wheels from Shimano or BMC.
