Spectre Bodies is a new work of art from the Czech bicycle manufacturer Festka. The artist Jakub Kois was allowed to realise his art on a frame.

Festka is known in the scene for its artistically designed racing bikes. For years, the Prague-based company has been focusing on colourful frames refined by well-known artists. Following projects with the illustrator Michal Bačák and the Ondrash & Kašpárek tandem, Festka has this time invited the Polish artist Jakub Kois to decorate its Spectre model.

The project called "Festka Spectre Bodies", which was recently presented at Bespoked in Dresden - the largest trade fair for custom bikes in Europe - has a very personal history. More than a year earlier, Festka co-founder and bike designer Michael Moureček had a serious accident while riding with a group of customers. He seriously injured his leg and had to undergo an operation. Fortunately, everything went well and after many hours of physiotherapy and exercises, he was able to ride his bike again. However, he soon realised that his body and his current bike were no longer compatible. A perfect moment for a new, customised bike.

People as a design template

The graphics on his new racing bike are the result of an encounter with Jakub Kois - an artist, illustrator and screen printer for whom the human body is the main source of inspiration and the subject of his work. Human bodies of all shapes and sizes also appear on the designed frame; some painted in full colour, others drawn in outline; cycling, running, flying, cheering, embracing. The design is full of life and rich in detail and ideas and executed by hand.

Festka is offering the bike in a limited edition called Bodies. Ten Spectre frames are hand-painted by the artist in the same way as Michael's original. The bikes are sold exclusively as complete bikes, equipped with first-class components. With a price tag of 18,490 euros, it is clear that the target group is manageable.
