The new Decathlon flagship store on Brammenring in Oberhausen is being built over an eleven-month construction period and represents an investment of 15 million euros. As Decathlon’s 117th German store, the building will comprise 4,500 square metres of retail space. The integrated Van Rysel section will offer road and gravel bike equipment for performance-oriented cyclists.
Around 40 road and gravel bikes are available, including the RCR-F and the new RCR-G and EDR-G gravel bike ranges. The trained specialist staff wear Van Rysel clothing for easy recognition and offer professional bike fitting services. Six new jobs are being created for this department. Clothing and accessories from the world of international professional sport round off the range.
A specialist workshop is set to take over repair and maintenance services for Van Rysel bikes and road bikes from other brands in the future. Until the team is fully staffed, bikes can be handed in via a service point for processing within the Decathlon workshop network. The new ‘New Bike Day’ service is launching as a world first: Customers book a personal appointment to collect their new bike in a separate room and receive a basic size adjustment as well as an explanation of the bike, accessories, repairs and maintenance. This offer applies exclusively to orders collected from the Oberhausen shop.
Pia Voigt is taking over as shop manager in charge of the Van Rysel division. Following her training as a retail management specialist at Decathlon, she worked as a mobility products expert and team leader in the company’s first shop-in-shop concept. Since its opening in April 2025, the Cologne-Marsdorf branch has significantly exceeded internal sales targets. Van Rysel is planning further German branches for 2027, with a focus on Hamburg, Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt. The opening weekend from 15 to 17 October 2026 will feature test drives in the Van Rysel van as well as special offers at the Decathlon flagship store.
