Olympic time trial champion van Vleuten ends her career in 2023

Olympic time trial champion Annemiek van Vleuten will end her career at the end of 2023. This was announced by her Spanish team Movistar, with whom she had previously extended her contract for a further season.

The 39-year-old Dutchwoman is considered one of the most successful female cyclists of the past decade. She became road cycling world champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and won Olympic gold in the individual time trial in Tokyo in 2021. Van Vleuten had previously finished second in the road race.
